Christos Tzolis could make his debut for Arsenal in the coming weeks once his transfer from Club Brugge is confirmed
Arsenal are close to signing Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. football.london understands that talks over a €40million (£34millinon) have proven successful with the player expected to become the third signing of the summer.
The deal follows Piero Hincapie’s permanent move from Bayer Leverkusen for £34.5million and the signing of free agent goalkeeper Illan Meslier. Arsenal are expected to continue their spending this summer, with Mikel Arteta keen to upgrade several areas of the squad.
Tzolis is seen as a direct replacement for the now departed Leandro Trossard, who joined Besiktas in a deal worth around £17million including add-ons. Tzolis had been on his holidays following the conclusion of Club Brugge’s own title-winning season.

Tzolis will now have sights on making it back-to-back winning campaigns, and aim to win the Premier League. The Greek international has already featured in the English top flight for Norwich City and made his debut against Arsenal.

Officially, pre-season starts on Monday, 20 July.football.london understands that there is potential for a behind-closed-doors friendly to take place, but at present the first official match remains the clash with Girona in Spain.
This could be the first glimpse we get of Tzolis in an Arsenal shirt. With Gabriel Martinelli having had an extended break due to Brazil’s participation at the World Cup, Tzolis is effectively unchallenged to play in the wide left role early this summer.
