A shout from the gallery at last week’s American Century Championship didn’t amuse Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice as he proceeded to chase down a heckler.
During the celebrity golf event in Lake Tahoe, the former San Francisco 49ers star was at the tee ready to hit his ball.
Video of the tee shot captured audio of someone saying Rice’s name just before he began his backswing. Then, immediately as he hit the ball, someone in the crowd shouted ‘Fore!’
It’s unclear which of these yells was the one that Rice took offense to, but the legendary pass catcher whipped around to face the crowd after his hit.
Rice tried getting the heckler’s attention, yelling, ‘Hey! Hey! Yo, hey!’ before pursuing the fan and asking onlookers, ‘Which one? Which one?’
The football star then eventually tracked down the heckler and gave them a piece of his mind, though it is unclear what was said to them.

Rice then returned to the tee box and was met with applause from the gallery, leading to a wide smile breaking out on his face.
After the clip hit social media, fans were praising Rice for his quick thinking and hot pursuit of the heckler.
‘Well one thing for sure, the heckler is NOT going to be outrunning Jerry Rice,’ wrote one user on X. Another said, ‘Good for him. Security should eject that jerk.’
‘Jerry stands on business, love to see it,’ another comment read.
Others advised Rice to just shrug off the taunting: ‘I get it. Heckling sucks, but Jerry take a chill pill! LOL! Fire and Passion!’
A similar comment read, ‘Jerry, Just relax. You ainβt that good. Ignore the crowd and play golf.’
This isn’t the first time Rice has lashed out at the American Century. Two years ago, he confronted a reporter after being asked about the Chiefs wide receiver corps.
Rice got in the reporter’s face and said, ‘I will f*** you up,’ before walking away. Security intervened, with Rice adding, ‘If you want some, come get some.’
