England ex-youth international winger, Jordon Ibe, who last played for Lokomotiv Sofia of Bulgaria, has peladed guilty to a charge of physical assault, after he was accused of pulling out the hair of his former girlfriend, Amie Mayson, and left her with a bald patch, Sports247 gathered.
The incident, which occured last December in London, erupted after Amie confronted Ibe over some money he apparently owed her, but he seemingly took offence to her agitated approach and choice of words, which sent him into a rage and ended with his hurtful physical action.
However, after initially defending his action due to provocation, Ibe appeared remosrseful, as the Nigerian-born star, who previously played for Liverpool, Derby County, Birmingham City and Bournemouth, pleaded guilty, after which he was handed conditions not to contact Amie nor visit her.
Ibe will be sentenced at the same court on September 4th, as District Judge Polly Gledhill sermonised at the end of his hearing: “We are in a community of ordered territory and I am going to ask for a pre-sentence report. I am not ruling anything out.”
A report by UK’s Sun Sport further revealed, “Former Liverpool star Jordon Ibe pulled a braid out of his ex-girlfriend’s head during an argument, a court heard. The winger, 30, left Amie Mayson with a bald patch after attacking her in Lambeth, South London, in December.
“Amie had confronted Ibe, who also played for Bournemouth, and demanded he repaid her money she said he owed her. She then threw muffins he had bought on the floor and called Ibe a ‘druggy’ before he grabbed her by her hair.
“The footballer, who made 41 appearances for Liverpool, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Croydon Magistrates’ Court. In a victim impact statement, Amie said the attack deeply affected her confidence, self-esteem and self-worth.”
Yahoo Sports added, “Ibe, 30, previously denied the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm – which took place outside the victim’s home in south London in December – back in March, but spoke at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to confirm his personal details and change his plea to guilty.
“It comes just a few weeks after the ex-Liverpool star, who was sold to Bournemouth for $20 million in 2016, saw his contract with Bulgarian first division outfit Lokomotiv Sofia ripped up after just seven months, leaving him looking for the 12th club of his senior career.”
Sports247 reports further that the once-vibrant winger, whose full name is Jordon Ashley Femi Ibe, was born in Bermondsey, London, attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Camberwell and signed for Wycombe Wanderers’ youth team in 2007 at the age of 12, after his release by Charlton Athletic.
The latest misdeed by Ibe will bring back memories of December 2019, when he was charged with failing to stop following an accident and careless driving, after his Bentley Bentayga ran into a coffee shop in Bromley on July 30th, 2019 as well as in January 2021 when Ibe revealed he was suffering with depression and finding himself in a ‘dark place.’
