Norway head coach Ståle Solbakken has described Erling Haaland as unique footballer ahead of the crucial July 11, 2026 quarterfinal matchup against England in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The comments followed Haaland’s spectacular brace that eliminated Brazil in the previous round. The July 11 quarter-final in Miami Gardens will pit Haaland against several of his regular Premier League teammates.

The manager highlighted his striker’s unshakeable mentality and highly specific skill set on the world stage.
Solbakken noted that while most global superstars demand to be involved in every phase of build-up play, Haaland remains entirely indifferent to it, strictly focusing on what he does best.
“All great players have a need to show themselves, if they are not involved in the game, they often seek to move out the pitch to say, ‘here I am’. Erling is indifferent to that,” Solbakken told reporters.
“He knows what he is best at, he knows what he can help the team with, and that was the case on Sunday … there has never before been a footballer who plays in this way.”
Haaland has been the dominant force of the 2026 tournament, breaking multiple international records as he carries Norway on his shoulders.
