Former Nigeria international Edema Fuludu has urged football stakeholders to remain calm amid reports linking Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle with the vacant Algeria national team job, insisting Nigeria has no reason to panic.

Speculation over Chelle’s future has intensified following his impressive start with the Super Eagles, with reports suggesting the Franco-Malian has attracted interest from other African football powers. However, Fuludu believes the focus should remain on supporting the national team rather than worrying about transfer rumours.
“There is no need for panic over Eric Chelle’s future. These things happen in football, especially when a coach is doing well,” Fuludu said.
The former Super Eagles midfielder acknowledged that Chelle has made a positive impact since taking charge, particularly by improving Nigeria’s style of play and restoring confidence within the squad after a difficult period.
Despite praising the coach’s early work, Fuludu stressed that Nigeria’s greatest strength remains the abundance of talent available to the national team.
“Eric Chelle has improved the way the Super Eagles play, but Nigeria has so many quality players that any good coach can succeed here if he is given the right support and environment,” he added.
Fuludu also called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to continue creating stability around the national team, noting that consistent planning and institutional support are just as important as the individual occupying the coaching role.
Chelle has received widespread backing from players, former internationals and football administrators since taking over the Super Eagles, with discussions over his long-term future continuing ahead of Nigeria’s next international assignments.
