Nigeria’s under-17 national team, Golden Eaglets will be all out in search of redemption on Wednesday, when they face Australia in their second match at the ongoing four-nation invitational tournament in Yinchuan, China, Sports247 reports.
The newlook cadet squad being handled by Uwejamomere Eboboritse will eagerly seek victory against the Aussies to make up for their shock 3-2 loss to Tanzania in their opening match, which many youth football followers tagged ‘a scandalous result.’

That scoreline marked a continuuum of recent setbacks and poor marks for the Eaglets, who failed to qualify for the last two editions of the FIFA U17 World Cup, despite being record five-time winners of the Cadet Mundial, whose inaugural under-16 version Nigeria won in the same China in 1985.
Now back in the country where they first made history at cadet level 41 years ago, the Eaglets have redemption on their mind, as they play Australia in their second game, following which their last fixture will be versus hosts China in Yinchuan Sports Centre of Helanshan Stadium.
It is a huge testing ground and build-up challenge for debuting Eboboritse, who is using the tour to build team chemistry and as a crucial preparation for their date in September for the West Africa Football Union (WAFU)-B U-17 Championship, which serves as qualifier for the 2027 Africa U17 Cup of Nations.
However, Sports247 adds that Wednesday’s game versus Austrsalia at the 2026 CFA Team China International Youth Football Tournament will not be a sttroll in the park for the Eaglets, as their opponents will also be out for redemption, having lost their opening match 3-0 to the hosts on Sunday.
