Aberdeen Sports Village Offers Facilities That Meet Highest International Standards – Olopade

Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade is heaping praises on Team Nigeria’s Pre-Commonwealth Games training camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, with a verdict that it ‘offers facilities that meet highest international standards.’

Sports247 reports that, as Nigeria’s athletes, coaches and officials settle down for a three-week-stay, Olopade eulogised the base, which is officially known as Aberdeen Sports Village (ASV), adding that it is a renowned high-performance facility with an ideal environment to fine-tune Team Nigeria’s preparations.

Olopade added that the base will also accord Nigeria’a competitors the opportunity to properly acclimatise to conditions in Scotland, ahead of the multi-sports event, before which he further stated importance of the country’s athletes using world-class facilities during the last lap of their preparations.

The NSC’s DG also expressed confidence that all of Nigeria’s competitors will be ready to perform at their peak once the Games begin, and he further disclosed, “Our focus in this final preparation phase is ensuring every athlete has access to the best possible training environment.

“Aberdeen Sports Village offers facilities that meet the highest international standards, and we are confident our athletes will make the most of this final preparation period. We remain optimistic about Team Nigeria’s prospects in Glasgow and wish every athlete an injury-free and successful campaign.”

Aberdeen Sports Village (ASV) houses multiple facilities that include an IAAF accredited 400m athletics track, UK Athletics accredited indoor terrain, an Olympic standard aquatics centre, gymnasium and exercise classes.
