President of DreamStars Ladies FC, Dr. Abolore AbdulRahmon, has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship, insisting that the Lagos-based side is fully prepared for the task ahead despite being drawn in a highly competitive Group A.
DreamStars Ladies will battle Delta Babes, Rosaria Victrix, and First Mahi Babes for the sole ticket from the group to the promotion playoffs when the championship kicks off in Calabar on July 11.

Speaking exclusively with Sports247, Dr. AbdulRahmon said the club remains focused and is approaching the competition one game at a time.
“The team is prepared for the task ahead, and certainly, we shall take it one step at a time,” he said.
With only one team guaranteed progression to the playoffs, the DreamStars president admitted that his side has limited information on their opponents but stressed that there are no easy games in the championship.
“We do not have a specific strategy because we have little or no information about our opponents. Every team in the group is strong because there are no small teams in the NWFL Championship. Our strategy is to stay focused throughout the competition.”
Reflecting on previous campaigns, Dr. AbdulRahmon said the club has learned valuable lessons from recent experiences, particularly its quick return to the championship stage.
“Our past lessons were reflected in our quick return to the Championship last year, and we certainly do not have doubts about how far we can go.”
DreamStars Ladies have built a reputation as one of the notable clubs in women’s football development, and the club’s president reiterated that promotion remains an important objective in their long-term vision.
“As a club, our goal is to remain a professional reference in the NWFL, and we shall continue to stay committed to that. We have enjoyed promotion success before, having reached the NWFL Premiership in the 2017/18 season before our orchestrated relegation in 2021.”
Despite targeting a return to the top flight, he maintained that the club remains calm and positive about its chances.
“Our message to our supporters and stakeholders is simple: just keep having trust in the team.”
Dr. AbdulRahmon added that securing promotion would be a source of pride for Lagos State football stakeholders and lovers of quality football.
“The players understand the task ahead and are prepared to deliver. If we succeed in gaining promotion, Lagos football stakeholders and fans of quality football artistry will certainly be proud of us.”
As the countdown to the NWFL Championship continues, DreamStars Ladies will be hoping that their calm approach, experience, and ambition can guide them back to the Premiership.
