Executive chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Honourable Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran has reiterated the Nigerian government’s determination to protect ‘clean athletes’ and ensure that competitors who stay away from performance enhancing drugs are not overwhelmed by cheats.
Sports247 reports that the women’s football promoter and former member of the House of Representatives made this declaration at the inauguration of the technical board of Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre (NADC), which she stated is a significant step towards strengthening integrity among all practitioners.

While also acknowledging the need to ensure enhanced transparency and global competitiveness in Nigerian sports, Omidiran added that the board’s inauguration comes after the National Anti-Doping Act was enacted last year.

She pointed out that this demonstrates the federal government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the credibility of performances in Nigerian sports and aligning the country with international best practices under the World Anti-Doping Code.
Omidiran, who is also the board of trustee secretary of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), submited that the establishment of NADC is a strategic institutional reform that reinforces the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration by promoting accountability, fairness and excellence in the nation’s sports ecosystem.
“The inauguration of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre Technical Board is a landmark achievement for Nigerian sports. It reflects the Federal Government’s determination to protect clean athletes, uphold integrity in competition and restore greater confidence in Nigeria’s sporting system.
“I congratulate the chairman and members of the technical board on their well-deserved appointments and urge them to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism and fairness. Their success will protect our athletes and strengthen Nigeria’s standing within the global sporting community,” Omidiran concluded.
