Captain of Brazil’s women’s cricket team, Camila Nascimento, has hailed her players’ fighting spirit despite their narrow defeat to Nigeria in the bronze-medal match at the Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament in Rwanda.
Brazil fell to a heartbreaking two-wicket loss in the third-place playoff, but Nascimento insisted the tournament marked a major milestone for women’s cricket in the South American nation.

“I’m proud of what this team achieved,” Nascimento said.
The Brazilian skipper praised her players for refusing to surrender, noting that they battled until the final delivery despite the disappointment of missing out on a podium finish.
“We fought until the very last ball, and that’s something we can be proud of,” she added.
Nascimento highlighted her team’s disciplined bowling display and commitment in the field, saying there were plenty of positives to build on.
She also pointed to the wickets taken and boundaries scored as evidence of the progress Brazil has made during the competition.
“There were a lot of encouraging moments for us throughout the tournament,” she stated.
Despite the defeat, Nascimento described the campaign as the most successful in Brazil women’s cricket history, believing it has raised the standard of the team and inspired greater interest in the sport back home.
The Brazilian captain said the experience gained in Rwanda will serve as a valuable foundation as her side continues its development on the international stage.
