World Cup 2026: Haaland Was Brilliant Against Brazil –Adepoju

Former Nigerian international Mutiu Adepoju has heaped praise on Norwegian striker Erling Haaland for his brilliant performance against Brazil in the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Recall that Haaland scored two late goals to lead Norway to a historic 2-1 upset over Brazil in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16, eliminating the five-time champions.

The performance, which saw Haaland score a header and a powerful strike, propelled Norway to their first-ever World Cup quarterfinal.

Reacting after the game, Adepoju, who was a guest on Sporty TV‘s World Cup coverage, described the Manchester City striker as a fantastic player.

“Haaland is a fantastic striker. He has always been the target in the attack for Norway, regardless of whether it’s a high ball or a low ball.

“The second goal was fantastic; Haaland received the ball without any pressure, had the opportunity to shoot, and the ball went under the Brazilian defender. Alisson couldn’t reach it, resulting in a great goal.”

“Congratulations to the Norwegians and Haaland as well. He has scored seven goals now for Norway.”

Haaland’s clinical finishing and Schjelderup’s two assists proved decisive, while Nyland’s first-half penalty save laid the foundation for an impressive Norwegian performance.

For Brazil, the defeat exposed missed opportunities, with Guimarães’ failed penalty and several squandered chances proving costly despite a spirited late rally led by Neymar.
