Patricia Mbata, the British-born Nigerian middleweight boxer, has proudly showcased the official Team Nigeria kit ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, as preparations intensify for the multi-sport event in Glasgow, Scotland.

Mbata, one of the athletes representing Nigeria at the XXIII Commonwealth Games, shared the official outfits issued to Team Nigeria athletes on social media as excitement continues to build ahead of the Games, scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026.
Meanwhile, Team Nigeria’s training camp at the renowned Aberdeen Sports Village has received a major boost with the arrival of 18 additional athletes, increasing the total number of athletes in camp to 74.
With just 18 days remaining before the opening ceremony, the Nigerian contingent has entered the final phase of preparations at the world-class Scottish facility, where the athletes will continue intensive training for the next three weeks before moving into the Games Village in Glasgow.
Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and the quality of facilities available in Aberdeen.
“With 18 days to the Games, our focus in this final preparation phase is ensuring every athlete has access to the best possible training environment.
“Aberdeen Sports Village offers facilities that meet the highest international standards, and we are confident our athletes will make the most of this final preparation period. We remain optimistic about Team Nigeria’s prospects in Glasgow and wish every athlete an injury-free and successful campaign,” Olopade said.
Recognised as Scotland’s premier sports, fitness and lifestyle venue, Aberdeen Sports Village boasts internationally accredited training facilities, including a UK Athletics-certified indoor athletics centre, an international-standard athletics track, an Olympic-standard Aquatics Centre, high-performance gymnasium, recovery facilities and multi-sport indoor halls.
The facility has hosted several international competitions and is widely regarded as one of Europe’s leading high-performance training centres for elite athletes.
According to the National Sports Commission, the state-of-the-art complex provides Team Nigeria with the ideal environment to complete final preparations and acclimatise ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
More athletes and officials are expected to arrive in Aberdeen over the coming days as Team Nigeria finalises its preparations for what is expected to be another highly competitive outing at the Commonwealth Games.
