Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, will begin their campaign at the 2026 China International Youth Football Tournament with an opening clash against Tanzania on Sunday, July 5, in Yinchuan, China.
The encounter, scheduled for the Yinchuan Sports Centre Helanshan Stadium, will kick off at 9:00 a.m. Nigerian time (WAT), which corresponds to 4:00 p.m. local time in China.

The four-nation invitational tournament, running from July 5 to July 11, features Nigeria, hosts China, Australia, and Tanzania.
It provides the five-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions with valuable international exposure as they continue preparations for the WAFU B U-17 Championship in September.
Head coach Uwejamomere Eboboritse travelled with a 20-man squad for the competition, assisted by coaches Kalli Mohammed Kachalla and Abdullahi Isa.
The technical crew is expected to use the tournament to evaluate players, fine-tune tactics, and build team chemistry ahead of the regional qualifiers for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
Following Sunday’s opener against Tanzania, the Golden Eaglets will face Australia on Wednesday, July 8, before rounding off their campaign against tournament hosts China on Saturday, July 11.
The tournament forms an important part of Nigeria’s preparations as the Golden Eaglets aim to return to the top of African youth football and secure qualification for the next FIFA U-17 World Cup.
