The technical committee chairman of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Prince Tunde Omisore has predicted that the country’s national team will excel at the forthcoming African qualifiers and pick a ticket to the continental championship.
Sports247 reports that Omisore believes the NVBF has selected a crack squad that will do well at the competition scheduled to hold in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 13th to 23rd of this month and make it to the 2026 CAVB Africa Nations Cup.

Omisore added that 20 players have been invited to camp ahead of the qualifiers, with a blend of experienced stars, emerging domestic talents and foreign-based professionals expected to spearhead Nigeria’s quest for a Nations Cup spot.
He further disclosed that the home-based players were selected based on their top performances during the first phase of the 2026 National Premier Volleyball League as well as through an extensive nationwide scouting exercise conducted by the technical crew.
The NVBF’s technical top shot also pointed out that the volleyball national team’s crew headed by Oladipupo Taiwo Gabriel, with Tswevini Yohanna and Jonah Adamu serving as assistants, selected players who possess qualities needed to secure qualification.
Omisore submitted, “The technical crew has assembled a solid team with the right blend of home-based talents and foreign-based professionals. We are confident that this team has what it takes to qualify for the Africa Nations Cup.
“High standard displayed during the domestic league provided an ideal platform for identifying those capable of representing Nigeria at the continental level. The National Premier Volleyball League is an important talent development platform.
“The level of competition witnessed during the first phase of the league demonstrated the steady progress being made in Nigerian volleyball, with several young players showing remarkable improvement.
“The federation remains committed to ensuring that national team selection is based on merit and current form. Performances in the domestic league will continue to play a major role in determining invitations to national assignments.”
