Arsenal face the prospect of breaking the British transfer record if they wish to land Morgan Rogers, with Aston Villa having set their asking price.
The England international is currently representing his country at the World Cup, yet continues to attract significant interest from several Premier League clubs. The champions believe they are leading the race, but The Telegraph report Arsenal have been informed they must part with £130million to secure the playmaker’s signature.
That figure is £5m more than Liverpool paid to sign Alexander Isak 12 months ago, with Villa also rating Rogers above Elliot Anderson, who is set to join Manchester City for £116m imminently.
Villa are reluctant to part with their talisman, who netted 14 times last season. Their valuation also accounts for the fact that they would be required to hand 20 per cent of any fee to Middlesbrough, owing to a sell-on clause inserted into his deal during the 2024 winter transfer window.

Unai Emery’s side have returned to the Champions League and have just claimed the Europa League title — their first piece of silverware in 30 years — meaning the departure of Rogers would undoubtedly disrupt their upward trajectory.
Arsenal are eager to strengthen their attacking ranks, with weaknesses exposed during the Champions League final defeat to PSG, though whether they would sanction a £130m outlay for Rogers remains uncertain.
Their current transfer record stands at £105m, spent on bringing Declan Rice to the club from West Ham.
Rogers is progressing towards becoming a mainstay in the England setup, as is Anderson, though Rogers has just played a pivotal role in securing European glory for his continental side.
City’s competitors had long worried that their chase for Anderson would inflate the market, with clubs using his £116million fee as a reference point.
Arsenal have yet to make any signings this summer, though Mikel Arteta acknowledged their ambition to elevate their standards after at last claiming Premier League silverware.

“We’ll start to make some very important decisions, we want to reach another level,” said the Arsenal boss.
“We’re going to have to show that ambition because they are more than capable of doing it but it’s going to demand us to be very, very ambitious, very fast and very smart.”
