New England Patriots special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer has announced his engagement to sports reporter Kayla Burton – just months after Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini’s affair scandal.
In a joint post on Instagram, Springer, 37, and Burton, 31, shared photos of the heartwarming moment he got down on one knee and proposed in a romantic setting at Swami’s Beach in San Diego.
The couple first went public with their relationship in 2024, though it is unclear exactly how long they have been dating.
Burton, who currently works as a host for NBC Sports Boston, also posted screenshots of her showing off her new diamond engagement ring to friends and family on FaceTime following Springer’s proposal.
Springer is set to enter his third season as special teams coordinator in New England after spending time with the Los Angeles Rams in the 2022 and 2023 campaigns.
The former University of Texas at El Paso linebacker previously spent eight years coaching at collegiate level.

Springer’s engagement comes just months after the scandal over Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel’s alleged affair with Dianna Russini
Before joining NBC Sports Boston, Burton was a college football sideline reporter for ESPN. She has also previously worked as an anchor and reporter for NFL Network in Los Angeles.
While she played Division I women’s basketball at Lehigh University, her sister Veronica was a first-round pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft and currently plays for the Golden State Valkyries.
Springer is gearing up for his second season working under Vrabel, who led the Patriots to the Super Bowl in his first year as head coach in 2025.
However, the three-time Super Bowl champion linebacker has been at the center of fierce controversy following their defeat to the Seattle Seahawks in Santa Clara, after he was pictured fraternizing with NFL insider Russini at an adults-only resort in Arizona earlier this year.
Rumors of an affair between Vrabel and Russini, who are both married with kids, began in March when the New York Post published photos of them hugging and hanging out poolside at the resort.
The Post later published more photos of the pair enjoying breakfast together at the same hotel and other pictures showing them kissing at a New York bar, reportedly, in March of 2020.
Furthermore, the Daily Mail has also published snaps of them at a Biloxi, Mississippi, casino in January 2024, and of Vrabel with a pregnant Russini renting a boat on a Tennessee lake three years earlier when he was coaching the Titans and she was reporting for ESPN.

Despite initially denying allegations that they were having an affair, Vrabel agreed to seek professional help to become a ‘better person’ after having ‘difficult conversations with people I care about’ in the wake of the scandal.
He stepped away from the team during the third day of the Draft to attend a counseling session, he said, because he was going to prioritize his family over his job going forward.ย
Russini, meanwhile, resigned from her job at The Athletic despite suggesting the accusations were not true on her way out.
The female reporter and her husband, Shake Shack executive Kevin Goldschmidt, were married in September 2020. Vrabel has been married to Jen since 1999.
