President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has assured players and officials of Nigeria’s national teams that the era of delayed bonuses and allowances is over.
Gusau said new funding arrangements introduced through the National Sports Commission have eliminated the financial bottlenecks that previously affected the prompt payment of players’ entitlements.

“The days of financial issues relating to bonuses and allowances are behind us,” Gusau said.
The NFF president explained that the new funding policy has streamlined the process, ensuring players receive their payments without unnecessary delays after matches.
According to him, the reforms are designed to improve the welfare of athletes and allow national teams to focus fully on performance.
“There will be no more delays in the payment of allowances and bonuses after victories,” he added.
Delayed payments have been a recurring issue in Nigerian football over the years, with several national teams previously expressing frustration over unpaid bonuses during major competitions.
Gusau believes the latest reforms will strengthen confidence within the various national teams and create a more stable working environment for players and officials.
The NFF president reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of athletes as part of broader efforts to improve Nigerian football.
His remarks come as the Super Eagles and Super Falcons continue preparations for upcoming international competitions, with player welfare remaining one of the federation’s key areas of focus.
