A World Cup volunteer found himself trapped in a giant banner ahead of the pre-game ceremony for Czechia’s game against South Korea.
Dozens of volunteers filter out onto the pitch ahead of every World Cup game at the 2026 tournament carrying giant flags from the nations competing in the clash.
However, one flag bearer found himself on the wrong side of the massive strip of fabric when he took a tumble during rehearsals for the pre-game rituals.
Following the national anthems ahead of last week’s Group A game between Czechia and South Korea, the worker accidentally got stuck underneath the banner.
One of the many volunteers tasked with getting the Czechia flag on and off the field, the bearer tripped in the haste to fold the banner back up and whisk it away ahead of kickoff.
In a video shared by Mexican journalist Jose Ramon Fernandez on social media, he could be seen tumbling and disappearing into the layers of fabric as his co-workers continued to wrap the banner up.

Despite being trapped in the material, the individual attempted to stay in formation moving in pace with his co-workers before becoming completely stuck.
He appeared to try to crawl or roll out from the fabric as his silhouette could been moving underneath.
The flag banners are reportedly made from synthetic fabrics such as polyester or nylon, according to AS.
The material allows them to be light enough for the volunteers to carry out onto the field while also being durable enough to handle wind, rain and excessive heat.
The two sprawling symbols of the countries involved take up almost half of a pitch each when they are unveiled during the national anthems.
Meanwhile, the circular FIFA banner that often sits in the center of the field before kickoff is the size of the ring itself.
