Andrea Berta’s work at Arsenal can provide some insight into when a deal could be struck for Morgan Rogers
Arsenal are aiming to considerably strengthen their Premier League title-winning squad this summer, football.london understands. Co-chairman Josh Kroenke has committed to investment so that the Gunners do not stand still while their rivals aim to catch them next season.
Several high-profile names are already circulating as sporting director Andrea Berta begins to execute a summer plan which has already been months in the making, well before any trophy was lifted or parade organised. The aim is to upgrade, to improve and to deepen an already winning team.
However, as always with transfer windows, the clamour for signings is strong. Arsenal have faced scrutiny in many summers for their lack of apparent urgency to get deals done.
So far the club have already submitted a bid for Jeremy Monga, football.london understands, which was rejected, but there is an expectation that a new offer will be made. Berta and his right-hand man, Maurizio Micheli, are in constant talks with representatives and clubs as the early stages of the summer strategy are exercised.

A key name in the fold is Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa. However, he, like many other potential targets, is currently involved in the World Cup.
Despite Thomas Tuchel, England manager, suggesting that they would help to engage with any potential transfer activity to help smooth any processes and keep focus on the football, the tournament remains an obstacle for clubs like Arsenal to get deals done.
The final of the World Cup takes place on July 19. By that time last year, the Gunners had signed four players, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Noni Madueke.
Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres were also both secured before the end of July and featured in pre-season. However, both Eberechi Eze and Piero Hincapie joined after the Premier League had started.
That being said, both players saw moves accelerate toward the end of the window due to other factors, Kai Havertz’s injury and Jakub Kiwior’s exit, respectively. Whereas the likes of Gyokeres, Madueke and especially Zubimendi were targets identified early and signed accordingly.
Rogers is one such player and previous moves under Berta would hint that a deal for the player could realistically be done before August. With this being the latest the Premier League has ever begun, August 21, there is additional room to get deals done before the first match.
