The NASCAR world has been left in mourning once again following the death of Indianapolis 500 star Rick Treadway, who has passed away at the age of 56.
The news was confirmed by Fox Sports on Monday afternoon, revealing that Treadway had died after suffering a motorcycle accident on May 30.Â
The tragic news comes just days after NASCAR legend Kyle Busch tragically passed away at the age of 41 after a sudden battle with pneumonia, which led to sepsis.
Treadway, meanwhile, started in the 2002 Indy 500.
Treadway started 17th and placed 29th in the No. 5 Sprint/Kyocera Wireless/Airlink Enterprises G Force/Chevrolet fielded by his father Fred Treadway’s team and as a teammate to two-time Indy 500 winner Arie Luyendyk.
Luyendyk was among those who immediately shared a tribute to the former Indy 500 driver. Taking to X on Monday, he wrote: ‘Sad news hearing Rick Treadway passed away last Saturday. Our condolences go out to my former @IndyCar team owner Fred Treadway, Janice and Brian Treadway.
