Kwara United Technical Director Ashifat Suleiman Hails Impact Of AMAPRO Africa Development Programme

Kwara United FC of Ilorin’s technical director, Ashifat Suleiman has hailed the recent AMAPRO Africa Development Programme as an initiative that helped to improve managerial skills among all the participants, Sports247 reports.

Suleiman recalled that a major highlight of the programme was how coaches, club owners, sports administrators and journalists were urged to embrace management and leadership principles as critical tools for enhanced growth within the sector.

Other participants also poured encomiums on the programme, which was staged at Ilorin Innovation Hub this past Saturday, under the theme ‘Project Management And Leadership Skills in Modern Sports Ecosystem.’

Organisers of the masterclass webinar said it was aimed at equipping stakeholders with globally recognised project management practices that can strengthen sports administration and improve efficiency through capacity-building sessions.

Lone of the facilitators, Anthony Dele Daniel, who spoke virtually, stressed that successful project execution begins with clearly defining objectives, deliverables, timelines and boundaries, while avoiding unnecessary spending.

He also advocated continuous monitoring as a factor that allows administrators to identify challenges, make necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes, while coordinating stakeholders and maintaining clear communication channels.

Another facilitator, Adekemi Oyewusi, reinforced the need for sports professionals to integrate project management methodologies and leadership competencies into the rapidly evolving sports ecosystem, all of which created an impact on Suleiman.

“Knowledge is a continuous process. This programme has helped to improve our managerial skills. It is a very good programme,” posited Suleiman, who also described the event as very impactful and beneficial to professional development.

Sports247 gathered further that the AMAPRO Africa Development Programme, which was staged in partnership with Project Management Institute Nigeria, had in attendance over 100 participants physically and virtually in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Facilitators from PMI Nigeria highlighted factors needed for successful sports event organisation and administration, including effective planning, budgeting, team leadership, risk management, progress monitoring and resource allocation.
