Nigeria women’s cricket captain Favour Eseigbe says the Yellow-Greens must improve despite defeating Malawi at the Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament.

Captain of Nigeria’s women’s cricket team, the Nigeria women’s national cricket team, Favour Eseigbe, has insisted there is still plenty of room for improvement despite the team’s five-wicket victory over Malawi at the ongoing Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament in Kigali.
While pleased with the result, Eseigbe admitted the performance was not perfect and highlighted several areas the team must address moving forward.
“We are happy with the win, but we know we can do better,” Eseigbe said.
According to the Nigerian captain, the batting unit, particularly the top order, failed to perform at the level expected by the coaching crew.
“Our batting could have been much better,” she implied.
Eseigbe acknowledged that Malawi made life difficult for Nigeria during the chase and deserved credit for their competitive display.
“They pushed us hard and made us work for the victory,” she noted.
Rather than dwell on mistakes, the skipper praised her teammates for showing character and resilience when the game became challenging.
“The team responded well after some early errors,” she added.
Eseigbe stressed that one of the biggest positives was the players’ ability to remain calm and find solutions under pressure.
“We stayed focused and found a way to get the job done,” she said.
The captain also expressed gratitude to Nigerian supporters for their continued encouragement throughout the competition.
“The support from Nigerians means a lot to us,” she stressed.
Nigeria continue to build momentum in Kigali as they pursue success at one of Africa’s most prestigious women’s cricket tournaments.
“Winning while still identifying areas for improvement is often a sign of a strong team,” many cricket observers believe.
For Favour Eseigbe, the message is clear.
The victory was important.
The performance can still improve.
And the Yellow-Greens remain focused on getting better with every game.
