US President Donald Trump says the deal with Iran “is now complete”, announcing the end of Washington’s naval blockade and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Congratulations to all!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday evening, which also happened to be his birthday.
He said he now “fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”
Iranian official media said Tehran had forced the US to accept a peace deal, with an official statement from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council expected shortly.
Fars news agency reported that Iran would regulate marine traffic through the Gulf in coordination with Oman under the emerging ceasefire arrangement.

Iran’s deputy foreign minister said the “immediate and permanent” end to the war and military operations on various fronts, including Lebanon, would be announced from tonight, according to Iranian media.
He also said the end of the US naval blockade against Iran would begin tonight, Tasnim reported.
The deputy foreign minister said the text of the memorandum of understanding would be published after the official signing, but stressed that the agreement did not mean Tehran trusted the “enemy”.
He added that negotiations for a final deal would take place over 60 days and warned that Iran would take its own measures if it saw any breaches from the other side.
Iran’s military power and threats helped finalise the text, he said, adding that Tehran did not agree to the memorandum until its final demands were included.
Mediators will remain involved in the next round of negotiations, he added.
In a follow-up post on X, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the United States and Iran had reached a peace deal to end military operations on all fronts.
“Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” Sharif said in a post on X early on Monday.
He added that the formal signing ceremony would take place in Switzerland on 19 June.
