Nigeria’s Success Ogunjobi and China’s Hengzhi Cui capped an impressive week by winning back-to-back singles titles at the 2026 NASCO/ITF J30 World Tennis Tour Junior Championship in Abuja.

The week-long tournament, which began on Monday and ended on Saturday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, featured young tennis talents from 14 countries competing for honours and valuable ITF ranking points.
Ogunjobi successfully defended her girls’ singles crown with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory over fellow Nigerian Khadijat Mohammed in Saturday’s final.
The Nigerian teenager dropped only one set throughout the tournament and also secured the girls’ doubles title alongside Emmanuel Kwange.
In the boys’ singles final, China’s Hengzhi Cui maintained his unbeaten run across both weeks of the competition, defeating Nigeria’s Gbolahan Olawale 6-1, 7-6(8) to claim his second consecutive J30 Abuja title.
The girls’ doubles final saw the Nigerian pair of Emmanuel Kwange and Success Ogunjobi overpower Khadijat Mohammed and Sri Lanka’s V.D. Rashmi Omaye Wijewardana 6-1, 6-2.
In the boys’ doubles final, China’s Jinxuan Cheng and Hengzhi Cui defeated Nigeria’s Gbolahan Oluwajuwon Olawale and his partner in a closely contested encounter, winning 6-2, 4-6.
Speaking after her victory, Ogunjobi expressed delight at her performance and the progress of Nigerian tennis players.
“I’m happy with how I played all week. Beating my fellow Nigerians in the final shows how much our level has improved. I’m grateful to my coaches, parents and NASCO for the support,” she said.
Tournament Coordinator Oke Joseph described the championship as a major success in terms of player development and exposure.
“About 30 per cent of our Nigerian players were first-time ITF participants and they gained ranking points.
The round-robin format gave every player more matches, and that experience will stay with them,” Joseph said.
The ITF J30 Abuja tournament is part of the International Tennis Federation Junior Circuit, designed to provide emerging players with ranking opportunities and international exposure ahead of professional careers.
