Mourinho makes Gvardiol top target
Josko Gvardiol has emerged as Jose Mourinho’s top target in defence as new Real Madrid manager, with Levi Colwill and Riccardo Calafiori also on the club’s shortlist.
Mourinho was confirmed as Real’s new boss on Thursday and the Portuguese coach is desperate to add a left sided defender after the release of David Alaba this summer.
According to TEAMtalk, Gvardiol is seen as the ‘most attainable’ option for Madrid, with Chelsea and Arsenal unwilling to let go of Colwill and Calafiori respectively.
Mourinho is keen to have versatility in his left-sided defender, which has seen Gvardiol rise to the top of the club’s shortlist ahead of the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Nico Schlotterbeck.
Man City ready to pull out of Anderson deal
Manchester City are reportedly considering walking away from a move for Elliot Anderson after seeing a second club-record bid rejected by Nottingham Forest for the England international.
Anderson has emerged as City’s top target to strengthen in midfield and the Premier League runners up submitted an offer of £120 million (€139m), broken down into £100m up-front and £20m in add-ons.
However, The Mirror report that this offer was rejected, with Forest seeking the overall fee paid in full and wanting to eclipse the British transfer record set by Alexander Isak’s €145m move to Liverpool last summer.
City are described as being ‘not prepared’ to enter a bidding war, with the club believing the offer to be fair for a young player with plenty to prove and that hasn’t played in the Champions League.
Newcastle set to sign Munoz as Gordon replacement
Newcastle are closing in on the signing of Osasuna winger Victor Munoz to replace Anthony Gordon after making a formal offer to the Spanish side, according to various reports.
Munoz is currently on international duty with Spain at the 2026 World Cup but talks have been opened with Osasuna over a deal worth around €35 million.
The 22-year-old has a release clause of €40m but Newcastle are confident they can get the player for cheaper, with the player keen on the move.
However, Real Madrid have an option to buy back Munoz for around €10m and, while they are not deemed likely to take up the clause, they could choose to instead take 50% of the total fee, worth around €17.5m.
Bayern Munich seal €65m Brown transfer over rivals
Bayern Munich are set to win the race to sign Frankfurt defender Nathaniel Brown after transfer talks over a fee reached a breakthrough.
Brown has been linked with a move to teams such as Manchester United and Arsenal but reports in Germany claim that the 22-year-old is now ‘expected’ to move to Bayern.
A deal of around €65m is set to be struck, with talks only remaining over the structure of the payments rather than the overall fee.
Brown is said to be Bayern’s top target in defence and the club reached an internal decision to sign him ahead of his participation in the World Cup for Germany.
