All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Marcos Senesi, Mason Mount and Federico Valverde.
Man Utd want Senesi
Man Utd have expressed an interest in signing Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, Ben Jacobs has confirmed.
The Cherries have officially announced that the Argentina international will depart the club when his contract expires this summer, making him available on a free transfer.
Tottenham already have an agreement on personal terms with the 29-year-old, but this is only valid if they remain in the Premier League. Man Utd could yet swoop in for Senesi.
“Ambitious” Mount deal eyed
Coventry City are plotting an ambitious loan bid for Man Utd midfielder Mason Mount, TEAMtalk claims.
The Red Devils are open to parting ways with the oft-injured England international after he has slipped back down the pecking order again under Michael Carrick in recent months. However, clubs are reluctant to make a permanent move because of his hefty wages.
Consequently, it seems that the best way for Mount to try to revive his career is on loan. Promoted Coventry, managed by Mount’s former Chelsea mentor Frank Lampard, are looking into the feasibility of a deal.
Valverde doesn’t want to leave
Federico Valverde has informed Real Madrid that he does not want to leave the club, AS reports.
Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid are actively considering offloading their vice-captain after he instigated a physical altercation with Aurelien Tchouameni that left him hospitalised. It was added that Man Utd were mulling over a move.
However, Valverde does not want to leave Los Blancos, though the Spanish outlet acknowledges that he is fielding widespread interest, with Man City and PSG also keen on the Uruguay international.
Fresh Rashford talks
Barcelona will hold fresh talks with Man Utd over the future of loanee Marcus Rashford next week, as per The Independent.
The situation remains deadlocked, with Barca boss Hansi Flick recently stating that a final decision on whether or not to sign Rashford will be made after the season. The LaLiga champions are reticent to pay the €30 million purchase option in his loan deal.
Man Utd have so far rebuffed all advances to revise this clause, but it is now asserted that they could be convinced into accepting another loan deal during the upcoming discussions.
Carrick appointment approved
Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has greenlit Michael Carrick’s appointment as the club’s next permanent head coach, Ben Jacobs writes.
The 44-year-old has earned the job, and formal discussions over a contract are in full swing. Carrick is expected to sign a two-year deal with the option for a third season.
Man Utd are hopeful of sorting the final details with Carrick before the final game of the season away at Brighton on 24 May. Ratcliffe’s approval means that it is now all but guaranteed that the former midfielder gets the job.
