Arsenal retain an interest in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, whose preference is to join Barcelona this summer
Arsenal target Julian Alvarez’s agent Fernando Hidalgo has revealed he has not yet been contacted by Real Madrid over a bombshell approach for his client.
Following Real Madrid’s presidential campaign, which Florentino Perez won, the Spanish chief revealed he was prepared to submit a club-record bid worth £130million (€150m) for a mystery player.
It has been heavily speculated that the player is Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, even though Perez denied he would be moving for the Frenchman.
However, in recent days, reports in Spain have indicated Los Blancos could in fact be eyeing a shock swoop for Alvarez instead.

His representative Hidalgo has now had his say, telling 365Scores: “We have no information on the matter, and no one has contacted us about it.”
Barcelona are already said to have bid for the Argentina international, who is currently preparing for the World Cup.
Atletico Madrid have furiously denied claims they have received any formal offer and have continued to insist that the former Manchester City attacker is not for sale.
Arsenal hold a historic interest as they wanted to sign Alvarez from City back in the summer of 2024, when he moved to Atletico.
But the Gunners’ chances of landing ‘Spider’ are thought to be slim as he’s already privately made it clear he would like to move to Barca.
It’s said that behind the scenes, his relationship with Atletico boss Diego Simeone has become fractured in the final weeks of the season and that Alvarez would be open to a new challenge after two seasons at the Metropolitano.
Arsenal sporting director Berta brought Alvarez to Madrid during his previous role at Atletico, while Champions League winners PSG are also strongly interested.
At this moment in time, the saga seems unlikely to be resolved until after the World Cup when the dust will have slightly settled.
Alvarez has refused to comment on his future in public but did say several months ago that he could not guarantee he would be an Atletico Madrid player next season.
Premier League winners Arsenal are keen to bolster their forward line and also have Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and PSG winger Bradley Barcola on their shortlist.
