Nigeria defender Igoh Ogbu has been ruled out of the Super Eagles’ upcoming international friendly against Portugal after sustaining an Achilles tendon injury.
According to Super Eagles Media Officer Promise Efoghe, the centre-back suffered the injury during Saturday’s training session in Leiria.
“Defender, Igho Ogbu has been ruled out of the friendly against Portugal after sustaining an injury in training this evening. Team medics describe the situation as a suspected rupture of his left achilles tendon,” Efoghe stated.

Ogbu is expected to return to his club, Slavia Prague, to begin treatment and rehabilitation.
The 26-year-old featured in both of Nigeria’s matches at the Unity Cup invitational tournament last month.
The defender was in the starting lineup for the Super Eagles’ 2-2 draw against Poland on Wednesday and was replaced by Semi Ajayi after the interval.
The Super Eagles will face Portugal at the Estádio Municipal Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria on Wednesday.
