Arsenal make bold approach to sign PSG star whose contract expires in days

Arsenal are interested in signing a Paris Saint-Germain and France youth star with William Saliba believed to be a key part of their approach

Arsenal have reportedly made a transfer approach to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Emanuel Mbemba with his current contract expiring at the end of June. The Gunners and Parisians have already clashed in recent weeks in the Champions League final with the latter triumphing in Budapest.

It now seems as though they will be going head-to-head for the talented defender and this time Mikel Arteta will be hoping to come out on top.

According to BBC Sport, PSG have offered the 18-year a new deal but that has not been accepted and he is now considering his options. Though he will be a free agent in just a few weeks, Arsenal would have to pay a training compensation fee which is expected to be just over £150,000.

In order to secure a work permit, it has been claimed that the teenager was told he would initially be sent out on loan before potentially returning in January 2027.

The report adds that Mbemba is leaning towards a move to Emirates Stadium with William Saliba’s progression referenced by the club in their proposal.

Saliba was signed in 2019 as a teenager before being loaned to Marseille in order to develop his game further. He is now an established member of the Arsenal squad and will be going to the upcoming World Cup with France.

Despite a hugely impressive season, Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi will not be heading to the United States but he could be making the move to north London over the next few months.

The Gunners are very much interested in signing the 19-year-old and looked to face competition from PSG. However, it is now being claimed in France that PSG are far more focused on signing RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.

Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers is another concrete target for the Gunners with a sale even possible before the World Cup.

The 23-year-old is expected to play a key role under Thomas Tuchel over the coming weeks and that could see his reported £80million price tag increase.

Player sales could help Arsenal spend more with Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Ben White Gabriel Jesus, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira some players that could be moved on permanently.

Even one of Kai Havertz or Martin Odegaard could seal an exit as Arsenal look to make brutal but necessary improvements with both players capable of
