The Leader of the Ikeja Football Coaches Council, Lagos State, Oyebande Babatunde Adeshina, has thrown his support behind Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, describing the Malian tactician as the right man to lead Nigeria’s senior national team into a new era of success.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sports247, Coach Adeshina expressed confidence in Chelle’s ability to rebuild the Super Eagles and deliver major achievements if given the necessary support and a conducive working environment.
According to the respected football coach, Chelle’s impact since taking charge has been encouraging, particularly in his approach to squad development and long-term planning.
“Eric Chelle is a good coach, a messiah that the Nigeria Super Eagles need, and a good replacement for Clement Westerhof,” Adeshina stated.
The veteran coach believes Chelle’s work goes beyond immediate results, noting that the former Mali national team manager is gradually laying the foundation for a sustainable and competitive national team capable of competing at the highest level.
“If he’s given a chance and a free hand to work in an enabling environment, he’s already building a four-year project team for Nigeria now,” he added.
Chelle has earned praise from several quarters for introducing new players into the national team setup while maintaining a balance between experienced stars and emerging talents.
His willingness to expand the player pool and create competition for places has been viewed as a positive step in the Super Eagles’ rebuilding process.
Adeshina remains optimistic that the project will yield tangible success in the coming years if continuity is maintained.
“He will surely win the AFCON for us and qualify us for the next FIFA World Cup by God’s grace,” he said.
