Sports247 gathered that, although Manchester United of England are also cited as new front runners for Osimhen’s signature, the hitman might prefer linking up with Lookman at Wanda Metropolitano instead.

At the same time, Atletico appear to be almost desperate to get Osimhen, as the club’s technical buffs see him as an ideal replacement for Julian Alvarez, who is on the verge of leaving the club this summer.

Spanish publication, AS, adds: “Atletico Madrid are reportedly eyeing a move for Victor Osimhen as a replacement for Julian Alvarez, but they face competition from the Premier League.

“Alvarez, 26, has been heavily linked with a summer exit, and Diego Simeone’s side are now making a succession plan. They are keen on adding Galatasaray’s Osimhen, 27, to their squad.

“It’s understood that Atletico will face some serious competition from Man United for the Nigerian, who is contracted in Turkey until 2029.”

Sports247 reports further that Lookman’s influence could play a huge role in luring Osimhen over to Atleti, as both forwards remain close pals despite an on-field spat they had during the Africa Cup of Nations.

It would also be a huge opportunity for Osimhen to get back into mainstream Europe, after previous spells at VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Racing Charleroi of Belgium, Lille Metropole of France and SSC Napoli of Italy.
