A delegation from the Golden Armwrestling Team paid a strategic visit to the Deputy Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Gwagwalada on May 26, 2026, as part of efforts to introduce armwrestling as a developmental and rehabilitative sport for inmates within correctional facilities.

The visit marked a significant step towards expanding the reach of armwrestling in Nigeria while also promoting sports as a tool for rehabilitation, discipline, physical fitness, and social reintegration among inmates.
The delegation was led by notable members of the Golden Armwrestling Team, including Madueke Collins, Afamefuna Testimony Samuel, and the team’s Secretary and Referee, Joy Olatunji.
During the meeting, the team presented the vision behind the initiative, emphasizing how armwrestling can serve as a positive engagement platform capable of encouraging discipline, confidence, healthy competition, and mental development among inmates.
According to the delegation, introducing structured sporting activities inside correctional centres could also help identify hidden talents while creating opportunities for rehabilitation through sports development programs.
The proposal was warmly received by officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service, who expressed strong interest in the initiative and acknowledged the potential benefits of introducing armwrestling within correctional facilities.
