The camp of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team received another boost on Wednesday as the Lionesses of Teranga of Senegal touched down in Ikenne-Remo ahead of their two international friendly matches against the Super Falcons.

A total of 22 players trained with the Super Falcons on Wednesday evening at the Remo Stars Sports Complex, with only forward Gift Monday still being expected in camp.
The reigning African champions will face Senegal in the first friendly on Friday before the reverse fixture on Monday, with both matches scheduled for 4pm at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne.
Head coach Justine Madugu now has virtually a full house in camp as preparations intensify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
With experienced midfielder Halimat Ayinde ruled out of the friendlies, Madugu drafted in Israel-based midfielder Josephine Matthias as replacement.
The Falcons’ squad blends experienced stars with exciting young talents, as established names like Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega, Rasheedat Ajibade, Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, Chiamaka Nnadozie and Christy Ucheibe continue to guide a new generation that includes Comfort Erhabor, Shukurat Oladipo, Rofiat Imuran, Kafayat Shittu, Joy Omewa, Omorinsola Babajide and Blessing Nkor.
Nigeria will head into the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations seeking a record-extending 11th continental title. The Super Falcons are drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi.
Senegal, meanwhile, will compete in Group A with hosts Morocco, Algeria and Kenya.
The tournament is scheduled to hold from July 25 to August 16 in Morocco and will also serve as qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, where four African teams will qualify automatically while another nation will advance to the intercontinental playoffs.
