Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor Osimhen has brushed aside speculations that he has lost the passion for playing Super Eagles’ matches, as he insists he is still very much committed to representing Nigeria on a regular basis, Sports247 reports.

Osimhen’s declaration comes in the wake of critical comments trailing his latest withdrawal from national team duties, as he will not be available for the Eagles’ upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Portugal.
However, while not providing details or reason behind his request for exclusion from the matches billed for this Wednesday and next week, the product of Ultimate Strikers FC of Lagos stressed that it is not because he is looking for a new club.
Osimhen, who has previously played for VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium, Lille Metropole of France and SSC Napoli of Italy, declared that Eagles’ coach, Eric Sekou Chelle wrongly stated that he has a transfer coming up.
While restating his respect for Chelle and continued commitment to the Nigerian national team, Osimhen emphasised that the gaffer’s words were misconstrued to mean an impending summer transfer for him, which he insists is not the case.
Osimhen disclosed through Instagram, “I just got off the phone with coach Eric Chelle regarding the comments about me in his recent interview. Unfortunately, his words have been taken out of context and blown out of proportion.
“He has great respect for Galatasaray, follows most of our games, and never intended to create any controversy. I appreciate the conversation, the opportunity to represent my country, and I look forward to continuing to work with him.”
