A run of three straight victories during previous encounters between both teams at the Unity Cup puts Nigeria’s Super Eagles at a huge advantage of Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz heading into Saturday’s final of this year’s competition.
Sports247 reports that, with the 2026 Unity Cup final looming large at Charlton Athletic’s Valley Stadium, various odds are rolling out at fast pace, with all giving victory to the defending champions, who opened this year’s campaign on Tuesday.
However, while the odds take note of Nigeria’s 2-0 spanking of Zimbabwe on the opening day, reference is also being made to Jamaica’s victory over India with the same scoreline on Wednesday and how they almost got an upset win against the Eagles last year.
Nigeria led 2-0 for a long part of the game, but the Caribbeans fought back to take it into 2-2 at regulation time and only lost out via the lottery of penalties, a strong performance that some pundits says is proof of Jamaica’s mettle.
In effect, though the Eagles will head into the final full of confidence following their dominant display against Zimbabwe, they need to be wary of Jamaica attackers Kaheim Dixon and Courtney Clarke, who both scored in the semi-final win over India.
