Marcus Rashford’s transfer torment continues, with Barcelona holding ‘advanced talks’ with Bernardo Silva in a move that would effectively end the small chance the Manchester United winger has of completing his dream move to Camp Nou.

Rashford’s prospects of finalising a permanent move to Barca were rocked as an €80 million deal with Anthony Gordon accelerated rapidly. While this move is not yet official, the agreement for the England international only needs the formalities to be completed.

Despite this blow, Rashford was told that there was still a possibility that Barca might pay Manchester United his €30m buyout clause to make his loan move permanent.

However, Barcelona are now locked in talks with Atletico Madrid attacker Julian Alvarez over a €100m transfer that would severely hamper any move – and now they are also closing in on Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva in a deal that would finish off any hopes of Rashford moving to Catalunya on a permanent basis.

Bernardo Silva deal finishes off Rashford’s Barcelona dream

The move for Bernardo Silva is advanced, according to Mundo Deportivo, with the player himself said to be ‘pushing’ for the deal to be concluded.

The former Monaco midfielder has long been associated with a move to the Camp Nou outfit, and now that he is available as a free agent, they have are acting decisively.

A Bola adds that there are ‘advanced negotiations’ between Silva and Barcelona, with agent Jorge Mendes playing a major role to push the deal through.

A two-year contract is on the cards, with Bernardo Silva willing to half his wages to make his dream of playing at Camp Nou come true. He will earn €8 million per year with the Blaugrana, according to the Portuguese source. However, a signing bonus will significantly inflate his earnings.

Should Barca complete this move, it would be the final nail in the coffin for Rashford’s hopes. It was argued when the Gordon deal was being rushed through that there may still be space in the squad for him, but with Bernardo Silva also able to operate in similar areas, albeit in a different style, there will logically be no room for him.

What next for Marcus Rashford?

Rashford’s next step will be to go back to Manchester United, where Michael Carrick has indicated that there is a willingness to work with the 28-year-old.

But while his first steps in pre-season may well be with the Old Trafford club, his future realistically lies elsewhere.

Tottenham and Aston Villa have both been cited as potential destinations, yet there is likely to be some time before Rashford’s future is finally clear.
