“Aggressive” Alvarez push

Arsenal are readying an “aggressive” move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, as per TEAMtalk.

The player’s representatives have informed the Spanish giants of his desire to leave the club this summer. On Sunday, Atleti boss Diego Simeone suggested that Alvarez had already made a decision on his future.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Alvarez only wants to join Barcelona. The latest information on Alvarez’s situation corroborates this, but doubts remain over the Catalans’ ability to make big-money signings.

As a result, one of Arsenal and PSG is currently his most likely destination, with both clubs having indicated to meet Atleti’s financial demands, which are believed to be well north of €100 million.

Arsenal and PSG are prepared to make “aggressive” moves for Alvarez, with the player keen on a quick resolution.

Man Utd are on the verge of reaching an agreement with Newcastle for the transfer of Sandro Tonali, Tuttomercatoweb claims.

The Italy international is a target for Arsenal, but it is the Red Devils who look the most likely to secure his signature, it is stated. Juventus left the race for Tonali after Newcastle outlined their financial demands. The Magpies want at least €80m, and likely more than €100m.

Man Utd appear keen to get their summer business done early this year. They are closing in on the signing of Atalanta midfielder Ederson, and Tonali could be next in line.

Kroenke promises transfers

Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke has promised further investment in the side following their Premier League triumph.

Kroenke, who was in attendance at Selhurst Park as Arsenal lifted the trophy on Sunday, said: “The business never stops. Right now, there are already other teams who are trying to strengthen and come at us for next season. We need to be aware of that.

“We’ve already had a few different conversations about different areas where we think we can improve on and off the pitch. I am looking forward to getting that going this summer, but it’s going to be an interesting one because of the World Cup.

“But fortunately, everyone is coming to the United States, so I don’t have to travel.”

Neville: Arsenal need more signings

Kroenke’s sentiment was echoed by Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, who insisted that Arsenal still require more depth in certain areas of the pitch.

“We’ll start to think about those things nearer the time, and do they need another centre forward as back-up to Viktor Gyokeres? Do they need another central midfielder in case Declan Rice or Martin Zubimendi aren’t quite there?

“There’s probably a couple of positions that Arsenal will still want to think about, but they’ve got a lot of strength in that squad,” the Man Utd legend explained.
