Police are searching for suspects after two British holidaymakers were beaten and left unconscious in Magaluf
Two British tourists have been beaten up and left unconscious in a horrific attack during a holiday in Spain.
Police have already arrested two people but are searching for others involved in the unprovoked incident.
The terrifying ordeal happened in the party hotspot of Magaluf on the island of Mallorca.
The resort was widely in the news over previous years due to fights and anti-social behaviour but in the last two holiday seasons, has changed its image to a more friendly atmosphere.
However, the attack is a new dent in Magaluf’s reputation as a drinking hotspot, particularly for Brits.
Police have yet to update the information on the two injured Brits and it is now known if they are male or female.
The victims, aged 30 and 31, were left unconscious near a nightclub on the party strip of bars and nightlife venues.
The two men arrested are both 19 years of age. They are accused of a crime of serious injury.
The events occurred during the early hours of Sunday, May 24, in the vicinity of a leisure venue. The young people, along with two other people yet to be identified, allegedly assaulted two Brits causing them serious injuries which left them unconscious.
After the attack, the Civil Guard began an investigation with the aim of clarifying the identity of the perpetrators, who were located and arrested on Tuesday in a holiday home in Calvià.
Both arrested, of Swiss origin, were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority in the courts of Palma. The investigation is still open to locate and arrest the rest of those involved in the attack.
