Elliot Anderson decision
Manchester United have admitted defeat to arch-rivals Manchester City in the race to sign Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson this summer, as per The Mirror.
The England international had been earmarked as Man Utd’s primary target to replace Casemiro, who is departing upon the expiration of his contract in June, but he will not be ending up at Old Trafford this summer.
The Red Devils aren’t willing to match Forest’s asking price of over €115 million and they have reportedly withdrawn from contention to sign him, leaving Man City with a clear-run to finalise a deal.
Ederson deal ‘close’ – Romano
Although Man Utd won’t be signing Anderson this summer, they are on the verge of completing a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson.
Links with the Brazilian have intensified over the past week and having agreed personal terms, Man Utd are now in the final stages of negotiations a deal with Atalanta, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
“Manchester United are getting really, really close now, and the first signing could be Ederson from Atalanta,” Romano told his YouTube channel.
“United are close to completing the agreement with Atalanta for €45m. Payment terms are being discussed, instalments and all the rest. But Ederson is very, very, very close to becoming a new Manchester United player.”
Carlos Baleba competition
Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto De Zerbi is planning on raiding his former club Brighton & Hove Albion for Carlos Baleba, Bart Verbruggen and Jan Paul van Hecke this summer.
The Independent report that De Zerbi wants to reunite with a number of his ex-Brighton stars, with Man Utd target Baleba among the players he wants to bring to north London when the 2026 summer transfer window opens.
Baleba has been linked with an Old Trafford switch for over 12 months, but Brighton continue to demand a fee of €115m, which remains a stumbling block for the Red Devils to overcome.
Marcus Rashford latest
Barcelona are on the verge of officially announcing the signing of Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon for €80m and the deal has harmed Marcus Rashford’s chances of moving to Camp Nou on a permanent basis this summer.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Rashford remains an option for Barcelona, but the deal has been complicated by the imminent arrival of Gordon.
Despite the 28-year-old’s willingness to sign a five-year contract to help with the amortisation of his transfer fee, Barcelona do not see this as a viable route to go down. Rashford is deemed too old to be given a contract of this length.
Instead, if he is to remain in Catalunya, he will have to accept a smaller wage. And in addition to this, Barca are unwilling to meet Man Utd’s €30m buyout clause – something that the Old Trafford club have been stubbornly insisting on, aware that there is interest from other Premier League clubs.
Man Utd submit offer for Danilo
Man Utd, AC Milan, Atalanta and Zenit have all submitted offers to Botafogo for midfielder Danilo, as per a report from Brazilian outlet UOL.
Palmeiras and Flamengo are also understood to be interested in the 25-year-old, who left Nottingham Forest to return to his homeland for €23m last summer.
Man Utd have reportedly added him to their list of midfield targets, although Botafogo are reluctant to sanction a sale before the World Cup as they are aware his value could increase if he stars at the tournament.
