Tehran has received a draft of the initial unofficial framework for a memorandum of understanding with the United States, Iranian state TV reported on Wednesday.
It reported that the US has agreed to withdraw its military forces from Iran’s viciity and lift its naval blockade in exchange for Iran restoring the number of commercial transit ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-war levels within one month.
Military vessels are not part of the agreement, according to Iranian state TV, adding that the management and route of traffic through the strait will be handled by Iran in cooperation with Oman.
It also stated that if a final deal is reached within 60 days, the agreement will be approved in a binding UN security council resolution, but contended that the framework is not yet finalised and Iran will not move forward without first receiving “tangible verification”.
