The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has extended warm felicitations to Muslims across Nigeria and around the world as the Federal Government declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In his goodwill message, Adeboye described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred season of sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and faith, urging Nigerians to embrace the values of unity, peaceful coexistence, and national harmony during the festive period.

“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the importance of sacrifice, humility, love, and togetherness. This is a period for reflection and for strengthening the unity that binds us together as Nigerians.”
The SSA commended the Federal Government for recognizing the spiritual significance of the festival to millions of Muslims while encouraging citizens to continue praying for peace, stability, and progress in the country.
“Nigeria’s strength lies in our unity. We must continue to promote tolerance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence across all communities.”
Adeboye also used the occasion to specially appreciate members of the Nigerian sports community—including athletes, coaches, administrators, referees, supporters, and stakeholders—for their continued contributions to national development through sports.
“I also celebrate our sports family across the country. Sports remains one of the strongest tools for unity and youth engagement, and I encourage everyone within the sector to continue promoting discipline, teamwork, peace, and excellence.”
The SSA urged young athletes and sports enthusiasts to remain focused, responsible, and committed to positive values during the celebration.
“As we celebrate, let us remember that true success is built on discipline, dedication, and respect for one another. Our youths must continue to be ambassadors of peace and national unity.”
He concluded by praying for a peaceful and joyous Eid-ul-Adha celebration for all Muslim faithful.
“I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters, as well as the entire Nigerian sports community, a blessed, peaceful, and fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration. May Allah accept our sacrifices and continue to bless our nation with peace and prosperity.”
