Arsenal are preparing for the Champions League final against PSG, but attention will soon turn towards the summer transfer window as the English champions look to strengthen their squad further
Arsenal are reportedly interested in hijacking a potential Liverpool move for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola. The Gunners will look to consolidate their status as Premier League champions this summer after clinching their first top-flight title since 2004.
Mikel Arteta’s side have shredded their status as nearly-men after finishing seven points clear of second-placed Manchester City – winning their final five league matches. Arteta’s men could yet make it a double if they stun holder PSG in Saturday’s Champions League final.
And after the European showpiece fixture in Budapest – the Gunners’ focus will turn to the summer transfer window which opens on Monday, June 15. One player being linked is PSG winger Barcola – who has struggled for game time in Luis Enrique’s team this term.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Arsenal are ‘genuinely interested’ in a deal amid reported interest from Liverpool amid their search for a Mohamed Salah replacement.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “There is genuine interest from Arsenal. Arsenal like Barcola. Arsenal are considering adding an important offensive player.
“We have to see whether he’s going to be a winger or striker. The Gunners have to decide internally what they want to do.”
Barcola had a mixed start to his PSG career after completing a £43million move from Lyon, but he has become a key player in recent seasons. The Frenchman was exceptional during the 2024/25 campaign, registering 21 goals and 21 assists from 64 appearances.
His statistics are not quite as impressive this season, with 13 goals and 7 assists from 48 matches, but that has been partly influenced by the presence of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in particular. Kvaratskhelia has nailed down the left-wing role in big matches for Enrique’s team.
Meanwhile, it is understood that Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez is among Arsenal’s primary transfer targets this summer. Reports are linking the Gunners with a move worth in excess of £100m this summer
The 26-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most lethal strikers since departing City for Atletico in the summer of 2024 in an £81.5million deal.
The Argentine has netted 49 goals and provided 17 assists across two campaigns in all competitions, prompting interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Arsenal.
Alvarez was already a known quantity during his spell at City, having played under Pep Guardiola between 2022 and 2024. During that period, he scored 36 goals for the Etihad club, winning two Premier League titles and the Treble.
