A former Minnesota high school football star has died in a car crash where the other driver was later arrested for alleged driving under the influence.
Keyshawn Michael Beckom died in the early morning hours at the scene of the accident about 25 miles west of Duluth, Minnesota on Saturday, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune. Beckom was 23-years-old.
The driver in the crash was identified as 24-year-old Lee Arthur Green of Duluth.
Green suffered non-life threatening injuries and was booked into the St. Louis County jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide and DUI, according to court records.
Per Minnesota news website Bring Me The News, Green was allegedly driving on a revoked license.
Police claim Green was traveling eastbound on Highway 2 in Culver Township around 3:45am when his 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed the median and he lost control, per the Star Tribune.

The SUV then struck a power pole, causing it to snap in half, per the accident report.
Court records indicate Green has two prior convictions for driving with a revoked license, according to Bring Me The News.
The outlet also reports that Green has a 2024 conviction for DWI and carrying a pistol while under the influence of alcohol.
Beckom previously played college football at Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range, per the Star Tribune.
While in high school, Beckom was a first-team all-district wide receiver at Duluth Denfeld.
Tributes to Beckom poured in on Facebook, with many remembering the young man for his contributions to his community.
