Donald Trump spoke about the cognitive test he took during his first presidential term during a campaign rally held in New York in support of Republican Representative Mike Lawler. During the event, the US President delivered a speech to the crowd, during which he touched on the test, stressing once again he has been the only one in his role to have taken one.
Mr Trump said it had been his decision to take the test, suggesting he wanted to hit back at people calling him “dumb”. The US President explained how he asked a doctor about taking a test that will prove that he is not “dumb”. He said: “I’m the only one [to have taken the cognitive test]. Originally they said ‘he is brilliant, he wants to take over the entire country. Then they said no no, he wants the world, not the country.”
After boasting about the operation in Venezuela, he added: “I said, ‘doctor, let me ask you a question. They called me genius, and it didn’t work, then they said he is totally brilliant, he is a genius dictator, he wants to take over, and that didn’t work. Then they called me, and they hit me with a bad one, he is a dumb person!’ D-U-M, not the B, most people don’t know there is a B.
“I said, ‘doctor, I don’t mind being called a brilliant, total tyrant dictator, but I don’t want to be called dumb. What do I do doctor, is there some kind of a test I can take?’
“And he said, ‘actually, sir, there is, it’s a cognitive test.’ And I said ‘how many presidents have taken it?’ and he said ‘none’.
He went on to give further details about the test and said he’d been warned that the results would be made public, meaning that performing poorly could lead to an “embarrassment.”
He said that five doctors were sitting with him at the time of the test. “I took the test and I aced it,” he boasted.
He continued: “And they had very tough questions. So the first question was you have a bear, a stake, a elephant and a horse. Name the horse.”
Another question he was asked during the test was to pick a number, any number, he said. To which he replied: “Okay. 203.” Reporting what he said the doctor asked him, he continuedL “‘Multiple by 9. Divide by 2. Add on 1,324. Subtract 1,292. Sir, multiply it out one more time by 19. What is the answer, sir?’ I got it right.”
Mr Trump further said that he has taken the test 3 times so far. “And the one doctor said, I’ve been doing this test for 20 years. I’ve never seen anybody ace it. So then what happened? I did it twice for my second. So I’ve taken it all 3 times, I’ll tell you. Because it is a positive thing.”
