British dad, 42, killed in Corfu quad bike crash as son, 15, seriously injured

The tourist, aged 42, was riding on a quad bike with his 15-year-old son when the vehicle crashed on the rural road of Roda-Acharavi near Almyros on the Greek island of Corfu

A British man has died and his teenage son was seriously injured in a traffic collision on Corfu today.

The Brit tourist, 42, was driving a quad bike with his son, 15, accompanying him when the vehicle went off the road for unknown reasons and crashed in an olive grove, local media reports.

The crash reportedly took place at around 2pm local time on the central rural road of Roda-Acharavi near Almyros. Police and the Fire Department rushed to the scene and the driver was freed from the wreck.

Emergency crews drove him to the regional medical office of Acharavi and from there to the Hospital of Corfu, while ambulance personnel tried to keep him alive.

The teenager was transported by ambulance to the Hospital of Corfu with assistance from a doctor from the Acharavi office, the Hellas Journal reported.
