Everton, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are all active in a growing transfer race to sign Dario Osorio from Midtjylland, FootballTransfers can confirm.
Osorio, who has been likened to Angel Di Maria, has been scouted by Arsenal and Liverpool, but a trio of Premier League sides are currently making enquiries over a summer deal for the 22-year-old.
These clubs have approached Midtjylland to understand the conditions it will take for the Danish outfit to sell the 22-year-old Chilean.
Osorio is the headline act of a talented young Midtjylland squad, which reached the Europa League last 16 before losing to Nottingham Forest on penalties. There is also Premier League interest in striker Fraculino and attacking midfielder Aral Simir, but it is the South American that English clubs have been first to trigger a move for.
The Danes will not be easily parted with their young talent, however. FootballTransfers can confirm they have already knocked back offers worth over €20 million for the player, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €11.4m.
Indeed, Midtjylland may push for a Danish record fee, which currently stands at the €25m that Molenbeek paid for Nordsjaelland winger Ernest Nuamah in 2023.
Dario Osorio: A strong all-round performer
One of the key strengths of Osorio has been his ability to fill numerous roles, with Midtjylland regularly deploying him as a right wing-back this season in a 3-4-3 shape.
He has thrived in this role to such a degree that data analytics firm SciSports rate him as the best full-back or wing-back statistically in Danish football this season.
His attacking attributes have caught the eye in that area, with his crossing, dribbling, finishing and positioning all of an elite standard. He has also been strong across the board defensively, performing particularly well when it comes to breaking up play and controlling counterattacks.
Three Premier League options
Everton, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace could all be seeking to reshape the right side of their team in the summer.
Of this trio, Palace jump out as the most natural option for Osario given that they have typically played a 3-4-3 variant this season. However, with Oliver Glasner departing, there is no guarantee that they will remain in this shape.
Nevertheless, Osorio would clearly be a like-for-like alternative for Daniel Munoz, who has persistently been linked with an even bigger club due to his consistently excellent attacking displays for the Selhurst Park outfit.
Palace have previously conducted business with Midtjylland before. They signed Alexander Sorloth in 2018 – a €16m deal that remains the Danes biggest ever sale.
Everton and Bournemouth, meanwhile, have both more typically settled in a 4-2-3-1 formation, though the Cherries will see manager Andoni Iraola leave at the end of the season.
Should the new manager at the Vitality Stadium opt for a back three, which is a system in fashion currently, Osorio would be a natural option, given the uncertainty of Alex Jimenez’s future following serious accusations levelled at him in his personal life.
Everton, meanwhile, have freed up a slot at right-back with the news that Seamus Coleman will depart at the end of the season, but Osorio would offer a more naturally attacking option at right-back than Jake O’Brien. Given the pragmatic approach that David Moyes typically takes, though, Osorio would likely be a wing option should Iliman Ndiaye leave in the summer.
There are still many moving parts before a deal is completed, but the quality of the Premier League sides chasing Osorio underline his potential as a star of the future.
