Tottenham Hotspur have an agreement in principle in place to sign Marcos Senesi, eSPORTY understands.
The Bournemouth defender is out of contract at the end of the season and has already informed the Cherries he does not plan to extend his stay.

However, a slight controversy has emerged as Tottenham may have fallen foul of the Premier League’s rules regarding soon-to-be free agents at other clubs in the division.
What rule might Tottenham have broken in their approach fort Senesi?
The Premier League’s rulebook states: “A club shall be at liberty at any time to make an approach to a player with a view to negotiating a contract with him: T.1.2 in the case of a contract player, with the prior written consent of the club to which he is contracted.”
It adds: “A club shall be at liberty after the third Saturday in May in any year and before the subsequent 1 July to make such an approach to a contract player: T.2.1 who will become an out of contract player on 1 July.”
With Senesi reaching an agreement in principle with Spurs, it means the Cherries could file a formal complaint against their rivals had they not received written consent from the north London club to approach the defender.
However, according to The Telegraph, that is not expected to happen given Bournemouth are resigned to losing Senesi in the summer.
Once it became clear Senesi would not sign a new deal, a number of top Premier League and European clubs were put on red alert.
eSPORTY reported earlier in the week how both Spurs and Manchester United were keen on the 28-year-old.
Meanwhile Juventus and Atletico Madrid are also known to be admirers of the Argentina international.
The one condition that could cruel Senesi to Spurs
But it Tottenham have shot to the front of the queue.
However, the deal hinges on Tottenham’s status as a Premier League club as Senesi is not prepared to drop into the Championship.

Spurs sit 18th in the top flight with six games remaining and are two points away from safety.
The Argentinian defender isn’t the only player Tottenham look set to sign should they remain in the Premier League.
Who else could join Spurs in the summer?
eSPORTY understands Spurs have a verbal agreement in place to sign Liverpool defender Andy Robertson, but only if they stay up.
Robertson was ready to join Spurs in January but Liverpool were unable to source a replacement and the deal fell through.
The Scotland international has already confirmed he will leave Anfield at the end of the season, bringing the curtain down on a Liverpool career that almost spans a decade.

Robertson and Senesi’s potential arrivals signal a major changing of the guard at the back for Tottenham.
Their incumbent left-back options consist of Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie, who have both spent significant time on the sidelines this season.
Davies is also out of contract this summer.
Although Tottenham are well-stocked at centre-back with the likes of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin, it is understood the club will still look to strengthen in that area.
Spurs will also have Luka Vuskovic available next season, who is set to return from his season-long loan at Hamburg, with sources telling eSPORTY the club view the Croatian as part of their long-term plans.
Tottenham could yet lose a number of their centre-backs as Dragusin faces an uncertain future amid reduced playing time while Van de Ven has interest from Liverpool.
Club captain Romero is also a wanted man, although he won’t come cheap after his father revealed the World Cup winner’s release clause.
