Barca to make Pedro bid?
Barcelona are ready to offer as much as €100 million for Chelsea forward Joao Pedro, Globo claims.
The Blaugrana have given up on signing €150m-rated Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and have instead shifted their focus to Pedro, who is considered “untouchable” by the Blues this summer.
Despite this stance, Barcelona are stepping up their efforts for the Brazil international and discussions over a deal have started. Sporting director Deco is expected to really ramp up talks for Pedro next week.
Chelsea players keen on Alonso appointment
Chelsea’s players have given their blessing for the potential appointment of Xabi Alonso as new head coach, The Guardian reports.
The Spaniard is the frontrunner for the job, but there have been some concerns over his desire to take on the role and his suitability after his acrimonious exit from Real Madrid. Chelsea’s dressing room is similarly fractious to Los Blancos’.
However, Chelsea’s players are reportedly keen to work with Alonso, and there are no concerns over his ability to command their respect, unlike what happened with Liam Rosenior.
Chelsea told to sign Casemiro
Ex-Chelsea star Ruud Gullit has urged his former club to make a move for departing Man Utd midfielder Casemiro.
The Brazilian will leave the Red Devils when his contract expires and is set to be available on a free transfer. Casemiro is understood to be keen on linking up with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami. However, Gullit believes that his experience would be perfect for Chelsea.
“Any manager would see what I see and say, ‘I need experienced players – I need a Casemiro, an [Aurelien] Tchouameni. I need these players in midfield. I need this kind of experience alongside the young talent.’ And if you don’t have them, it’s going to be a problem,” Gullit told MrRaffle.com.
Chelsea favourites to sign Rowe
Chelsea are leading the race to sign Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe, as per TEAMtalk.
The English winger is dreaming of a return to the Premier League, and Bologna are increasingly worried that he will be poached this summer as they are all but guaranteed to miss out on European football.
Chelsea are currently the “most determined suitors” for the €45m-rated 22-year-old, but it is claimed that Man Utd are also keeping tabs on his exploits in Serie A. Galatasaray have been strongly pushing for him in recent days as well.
