Liverpool have identified Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah, according to reports in France.
The Reds are believed to be scouring the market for a new right-sided forward after announcing Salah will bring down the curtain on his legendary Anfield career at the end of the season.
And according to French publication L’Equipe, Liverpool have reportedly added France international Akliouche to their list of potential replacements for Salah, with the 24-year-old valued at €50million (£43.4m).
After emerging through Monaco’s youth system in 2021, Akliouche has established himself as one of Ligue 1’s best wingers, scoring 23 goals in five seasons at Stade Louis II.
Six of those goals have come in France’s top flight this season, with Akliouche having also registered six assists for a Monaco side who are currently seventh and in danger of failing to qualify for European competition.
L’Equipe also claim Liverpool are interested in signing Akliouche’s club team-mate Lamine Camara – another player who has caught the eye in Monaco’s midfield.
The 22-year-old Senegal international has made 30 appearances for the principality side this season, winning possession back 153 times for Sebastien Pocognoli’s men.
However, L’Equipe understand Liverpool could face competition from fellow Premier League side Newcastle United for Camara, who Monaco believe is worth double the €15m (£13m) they paid Metz for his signature back in 2024.
While Monaco will be hoping to qualify for Europe in order to increase their bargaining position in the summer, the club do hold a somewhat strong hand already, with Akliouche and Camara contracted until 2028 and 2029 respectively.
Monaco are hoping to pip Marseille to sixth place and subsequent qualification for next season’s Conference League by winning at Strasbourg on the final day of the Ligue 1 campaign on Sunday. Meanwhile, Habib Beye’s Marseille entertain fifth-placed Rennes on the same day.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are looking to move one step closer to securing Champions League football for 2026-27 by securing all three points at Aston Villa on Friday evening.
The Reds recorded a disappointing 1-1 draw with out-of-form Chelsea last Saturday, with a chorus of boos ringing around Anfield as supporters made their feelings known following the final whistle.
Liverpool – who are currently fourth and level on 59 points with Villa, with England’s top-five teams securing automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League – have suffered a sharp decline in form following last season’s Premier League title victory under Arne Slot.
Following their trip to Europa League finalists Villa, Slot’s side will see out the 2025-26 campaign with a home clash against Brentford on Sunday, 24 May, with Keith Andrews’ men also in the mix to clinch European football.
Analysis: Salah’s replacement has huge boots to fill
While Salah may have struggled for form in his final season at Liverpool, the club face a huge task finding a suitable replacement for him.
The Egypt star has scored 257 goals in 440 appearances for the Merseysiders, with only Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285) having scored more times for the 20-time league champions.
While Salah has been missing since sustaining a minor muscle injury against Crystal Palace at the end of April, Liverpool are hopeful he will have the chance to say goodbye to supporters in person when the club play host to Brentford on the final day of the season.
