The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating Workers’ Day, paying tribute to the resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions of workers across all sectors of the economy.

In a message to mark the occasion, Adeboye described Nigerian workers as the true engine of national development, whose daily sacrifices continue to drive progress and sustain the nation.
“Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and commitment of Nigerian workers. You are the backbone of our nation, and your contributions remain the foundation upon which our development is built.”
The SSA emphasized the critical role of workers not only in economic growth but also in nation-building, highlighting the need for continuous support, recognition, and improved welfare.
“No nation can grow beyond the strength of its workforce. It is important that we continue to create an enabling environment where workers are valued, motivated, and empowered to perform at their best.”
Speaking from the perspective of sports development, Adeboye also acknowledged the efforts of professionals within the sports sector, coaches, administrators, groundsmen, and support staff, whose behind-the-scenes work contributes significantly to the success of Nigerian athletes.
“In sports, we often celebrate the athletes, but there are countless workers behind the scenes making success possible. Today, we recognize and celebrate every individual contributing to the growth of our sports ecosystem.”
He further reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to policies and initiatives that support workers and promote sustainable development.
“This administration understands the value of hard work and is committed to creating opportunities that will uplift workers and improve livelihoods across the country.”
Adeboye concluded by encouraging Nigerians to remain steadfast, united, and committed to building a better nation through diligence and integrity.
“Let us continue to work together with purpose, discipline, and unity. The future we desire is built on the efforts we make today.”
